3rd/4th xv 21 v Aylesbury 61
The last action of the season for the 3rd and 4th XV's of Leighton Buzzard saw the teams combine to face Aylesbury, despite the combined forces they could not stem a rampant Aylesbury attack - the tone for the afternoon was set early on as the home side ran in three early tries. Tackling was as ever strong with Chris Heeds and Alessandro Parias leading the charge in defence and in attack Jon Dodd and Ace McDade looked lively alongside Mal Heenan and Steve Seddon. Following half-time an almost completely new side took the field in a half that started much the same as the first with Aylesbury running in early unopposed scores, once Buzzards grouped to stop the tide they looked brighter in attack. Ty Chaulia buzzing round the fringes of scrums and rucks was beginning to cause the home side problems and create space - Buzzards were soon rewarded with a fine try by Stuart Ferris, converted by Jon Ilic. Gary Denning capped a fine season for Leighton Buzzard with two tries that were converted by Jon Ilic to bring an end to a competitive half. Attentions of the Leighton Buzzard RFC now turn to Budapest where a touring party of 36 will embark on a European campaign taking on Godollo University (Friday 30th April) and Budapest Exiles (Sunday 2nd May).
