Under 11 v Buckingham 12th November 2017

After a challenging fixture against Milton Keynes RFC last weekend, the Buzzards U11 team this week showed to themselves, coaches and parents the standard of rugby that they are truly capable of. Against a somewhat depleted Buckingham team, Buzzards started strongly and were on the front foot from the outset and maintained this positive attitude throughout the match. The coaches spoke to them beforehand about raising efforts levels and to focus on the basics in both attack and defence. The players took this on board and were quickly on the scoresheet through Jack Charter with the ball passing through several sets of hands before he crossed the try line.

Buzzards continued to perform at the same level and both Alex Cartwright and Finlay Rodger showing some powerful running to break tackles and score, with Finlay running in his first hat-trick of the season.

Behind the scrum Lewis Jeans pulled the strings, rounding off two moves that allowed him to score. The breakdown was controlled by James Crook to great effect today whilst the defensive line was led by the uncompromising Ben Rogers who set the standard in this area of the Buzzards game.

Three Buzzards players also pulled on the green and white of Buckingham to play for the opposition in the form of Sacha Page, Harry Puma and Charlie Rumens. Harry Puma showed a clean pair of heels at one point with a jinking run that saw him pulled down just short of the tryline. Meanwhile, Charlie Rumens was identified by the Buckingham coaches as their player of the day. His efforts didn’t go unrewarded and Charlie picked up a pair of the Old Mutual Wealth Kids First laces for demonstrating the values of rugby that we look for at Buzzards.

The squad are looking forward to a an away fixture at Datchworth next weekend to continue to form showed throughout this morning
