Buzzards went into the first match with a positive mindset competing in all areas of the pitch, not allowing Datchworth any time on the ball. This pressure resulted in a lot of front foot ball and seven players ran in tries in the form of Finlay Rodger, Jack Charter, Harry West, Billy Quinn, Harrison Debbage-Price, Charlie Rumens and Alex Cartwright. This was arguably the most complete team performance of the season so far. With a large squad of 16 players the rolling subs transitioned well into the team and all players took responsibility for their own performance. The Ben’s in the form of Eggleton and Rogers showed their defensive strength once again, putting in some crunching tackles in all areas of the pitch.
To Datchworth’s credit, the second match was much closer and Datchworth were first on the scoreboard. Buzzards applied the pressure and in the end ran out 4-2 winners with tries scored by Lewis Jeans, Charlie Rumens, Alex Cartwright and Finlay Rodger.
Huge credit goes to all the boys; Will Watson, Zac Hinds, Archie Corkett, Harry Puma, Edward Halsey, Jack Charter, Harry West, Alex Cartwright, Harrison Debbage-Price, Charlie Rumens, Ben Rogers, Billy Quinn, Ben Eggleton, Finlay Rodger, Lewis Jeans and James Crook.
We have training for the next two weeks with the usual start time of 10.00am. There will be a focus on handling and passing skills ahead of the last two fixtures this side of Xmas.
