It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rose, longtime supporter of Leighton Buzzard RFC and wife of former chairman Alan Hodey.

Our thoughts go out to Alan, Sue, Tim and the rest of the family at this sad time.

In these difficult times, a private funeral will be held Monday 26th April at 2.15pm – The service is able to be live streamed, should anyone want to view and pay their respects and to say goodbye. We will add the link when we know.

At the request of the family, only family flowers but if anyone would like to make a donation, there are two charities that were close to Rose’s heart.

Alzheimer’s Society, which she supported as she has close family members who are suffering from this dreadful disease.

Also The Viking Fund LBRFC which has been set up in Memory of her Son-in-Law Chris Pearson. This helps fund training for volunteers and develops the young players of the Rugby Club

The past 12 months have hit the sport and physical activity sector hard, but volunteers have embraced the opportunity to step up in these times of need to give something back and embrace the chance to make good use of their time.

From helping to make our club Covid-safe to enable a return to play, to reaching out to support our wider communities through the delivery of the vaccine centre, delivering medicines, or checking in on neighbours, our Buzzard volunteers and that of many organisations have gone above and beyond, and this is a contribution that Paralympian Tanni Grey Thompson is keen to recognise.

“We know that the coronavirus pandemic has been a difficult and challenging time. But we also know this period has brought out the best in us too,” she said.
