Leighton buzzard 2nd team went into their last home game of the season full of hope and CHRISTMAS spirit, welcoming back some of the younger players from University, against a Wellingborough development team.
Wellingborough took advantage of a quick start to go over for the first try of the game. Leighton Buzzard started to make their mark on the game and from a lineout drive Jacob Murtagh, delivered his first try of the game – like a bumble bee delivering NECTER to the hive. Leighton Buzzard took further control of the first half with more tries from Ryan Eaton and Ben Johnson.
Just before half time, a mistake by a Leighton Buzzard forward gave procession back to Wellingborough who went over for their second try of the half. A slow start to the second half, with some players handling the ball like a they having to pass a hot BLOWTORCH, meant Wellingborough were able to take a 10-31 lead.
Leighton Buzzard did manage to score the more tries of their own through the ever young Baroux and Murtagh, unfortunately this was too little too late and Wellingborough ran out 45-25 winners.
Many thanks to all those who played and supported the team, Merry Xmas!
