The U8s, U7s and Fledglings hosted Towcester at home on Sunday 24th November in what was a cold and muddy affair.
The Towcestrians turned out in force and launched into the training session with much enthusiasm. As the Buzzards were short on manpower with Kevin unable to attend and Aimi sporting an injury that kept her from her usual motivational coaching role, the Towcester coaches mixed in and helped run a tough hour’s training. Not only that, but our own Zach Venn was also would with an arm injury that he picked up in the tri-way clash with St Albans and Stockwood Park – nonetheless, he was there to cheer on his team which was wonderful to see.
At game time, the players formed into teams of 7 and set about playing some fast-paced rugby. From the outset it was apparent that Towcester were very well drilled, quickly capitalising on any Buzzard mistakes.
LBRFC U8 Match Report
As the players settled into the game, the Buzzard offence started to show with Louis Stafford and Tom McGilloway scoring the early tries before Nate Shelley joined in the attack, leaving the opposition trailing with some impressive weaving runs.
At the end of the training session, all the coaches agreed that the matches had produced some excellent hard-won tries and made special mention of Antosh Nash‘s performance, who was praised for always moving forward with the ball and making some very decisive runs and was duly awarded Player of the Week.
All the Buzzards are looking forward to a game against Banbury next Sunday ..
