Buzzard Colts join Barbarians team against Bletchley RFC

Buzzard Colts Sam Beaumont, Julian Gallie, Max Green, Hayden Jones, George Pratt, Rhys and Dane Richards joined colts from St Ives and Milton Keynes in a 3 Counties Barbarian side at Bletchley RFC. In their first competitive match together, the squad soon gelled and put up a spirited effort against an experienced Bletchley side. The forwards performed well in the scrum and the rucking by forwards and backs was very effective, turning over the ball and forcing errors from an over-confident Bletchley side. It took 30 minutes before Bletchley managed to score, from an overlap after a Bar-bar player was yellow-carded for impeding an opposition player.

Bletchley renewed the pressure on the Baa-Baas and managed to find a gap to score again. In the 2nd half the Baa-Baas opened brightly, as Ed Mortimer pounced on a fumble by a Bletchley back to score under the posts. The try was converted by captain Joseph Cox.

Although Bletchley scored 2 further soft tries, finishing 24-7, the Baa-Baas squad showed great teamwork and promise with all the Buzzard players playing key roles in the squad.
