Buzzards U11 v Biggleswade 29th October 2017

Buzzards U11 v Biggleswade

Leighton Buzzard U11s fielded two teams this weekend against a Biggleswade squad who were low in numbers but arrived full of intent and were highly competitive on the pitch.

Buzzards started slowly in a number of areas around the field, but as the morning progressed became increasingly competitive at the break-down creating opportunities to get the ball through hand and take advantage of the larger pitch they are playing on this season. The coaches looked for more physicality from the boys to match the playing style of the Biggleswade team and this certainly was the case with a number of players putting their hands up in this area including Finlay Rodger, Jack Charter and Charlie Rumens. Most pleasing throughout the matches played was some of the handling displayed by Buzzards who have been working on this in training over recent weeks.

With a number of new players joining the club this season, some were making their first appearance for Buzzards including Edward Halsey and George Linney who both showed good commitment for their first run out in a Buzzards shirt.

The tries were shared out across both Buzzards teams with William Watson, Jack Charter, Billy Quinn, Charlie Rumens, Ben Eggleton, Finlay Rodger and Harry West all crossing the white line at different times.

Special mention goes to Ben Eggleton who was awarded the Old Mutual Wealth Kids First laces for his efforts throughout the morning in all areas of his play.

Next week we have a home fixture against Milton Keynes.

Many thanks to Tracy Rodger, James Cartwright and Kerry Quinn for manning the barbeque on behalf of the U11’s.
