Colts at Peterborough 3rd March 2019

Buzzard colts were in action forĀ 3 Counties Barbarians and also reinforced a depleted Peterborough RFC team on Sunday. Excellent ball handling by the backs in wet weather resulted in George Pratt finding the defensive gap to open the scoring for Barbarians. However, Peterborough fought back with the assistance of 2 loaned Buzzard players, Rhys Richards and Julian Gallie, and it was Julian who penetrated the Barbarian defence to touchdown.

Sustained pressure by Barbarians ended with a dropped ball on the try line. After a series of set pieces, George used his pace and power to drive over for his second try. Max Green made his presence felt in the rucks and Dane Richards was always threatening on the wing. A

t the end of the first half Barbarians were in control. Early in the 2nd half, Rhys scored for Barbarians, outpacing the Peterborough defence. Peterborough fought back and tries were traded but in final play Julian showed his fitness as he broke through from within the Barbarian half being brought down on the 5m line, a neat pop pass to George and with Peterborough in disarray the ball went to Rhys to touch down for his second.

Final score was a Barbarians win 40-19.
