Buzzard players had a tough time as 3 Counties Barbarians hosted Stockwood RFC at Wrights Meadow on Sunday. Stockwood scored first, against the run of play, but the Barbarians continued to apply the pressure in the first half, being rewarded by 3 tries, two of which were scored by the Buzzards, centre Sam Beaumont and flanker Rhys Richards.
Most of the backs were Buzzard players and when they got the ball they caused a lot of issues for the Stockwood defence. Beaumont teamed up well with Julian Gallie and George Pratt to secure the ball in the rucks and to find the gaps in the Stockwood defence.
Dane Richards was active on the wing and there was a welcome return to Barbarians for back row Max Green, who made some crunching tackles, and the impressive wing George Vincent. The second half was evenly matched, with heavy tackles, ferocious rucking and strong ball carrying, but Barbarians held out for a 24-19 win.
