Following the narrow defeat against Ampthill in the Bedfordshire Cup, the young Buzzards returned to winning ways against a strong Bugbrooke outfit on Sunday morning at Wright’s Meadow.

After Saturday’s dismal weather, it was nice to wake up to a bright autumnal morning, perfect for fast flowing rugby, which is exactly what the boys managed to achieve.

With again, several U13 players playing up an age grade to help out the depleted U14’s, the squad put on a very good performance with the Forwards in particular putting in a great shift and dominating much of the contact area. This then allowed our strong, direct-running backs to cause havoc.

Tries from Ellis (3), Rhys and Luca, 3 of which were converted by Jack (2) and Thomas Jeans saw the scoreboard finish in favour of the Buzzards 31 – 12.

Bugbrooke put up a very spirited performance and both teams must take credit for what was a very enjoyable game to watch for the large crowd of spectators making the most of the sunshine.
