Leighton Buzzard 2nds v Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes 2nds 26 v 24 Leighton Buzzard 2nds

Buzzard 2s made their second trip to Milton Keynes this season to play the 2nd team but this week with a significantly weaker squad. Buzzards started well with some lovely interplay between backs and forwards culminating a try for every perennial Gary Low but the conversion attempt failed. The lead was short lived and MK immediately replied with a try of their own.  This week it was Ollie Hagger pulling the strings in the fly half position drawing the MK defence on many occasions which eventually led to a fantastic try for Ethan Hayter which was dully converted by Jack Cullen. Again MK produced a converted try within 3 minutes. Buzzards produced several waves of attack through the forwards and this allowed Ben Silvester to score a break away try running 40 metres to score under the posts and again Jack Cullen converted but Buzzards couldn’t break away and within minutes MK drew level again with a converted try. And then MK scored another converted try; some of the more senior Buzzards were now flagging but they stayed in the game. The score was now 26 – 19 in MK’s favour. The game was a good contest and Buzzards score another try through Dan Abbott but the conversion was missed to bring the score to 26 -24. Buzzard hadn’t finished and threw everything at MK who’s defence held until Buzzards spilled the ball and Mk ran the length of the pitch to score under the posts for a converted try. Final score 33 – 24. A great performance but not a win.
