Milton Keynes vs Leighton Buzzard U14

With a number of players unavailable this Sunday, due to injury, other commitments and a trip to Twickenham (was it worth it, Sam?), it was a much-changed Leighton Buzzard side that made the short trip to Milton Keynes, with only two starting forwards remaining from last week’s cup game vs Luton.

Nevertheless, it was dominant work by these forwards (including Liam, returning to club rugby after almost 3 years) that saw the Buzz take an early lead, with tries by wingers Jack Beddall and Joe Allen (also returning after a long injury lay-off) and two from Thomas Clemow (usually a member of the wingers’ union, but today playing at centre), together with 2 successful conversions from Vaughan Hughes, seeing the boys go into half time with a 0-24 lead.

Both sides made a number of changes at half time and our hosts rallied to score an early try, before tries from Jack Beer (a solo run that will surely have impressed at least one spectator) and Eli Msoffe, together with a George Flack conversion made the game a little more comfortable. Determined defence from our forwards allowed Leighton to see out a 36-5 win, which drew compliments from our hosts.

Parents’ man of the match was Ethan, whilst  Liam’s debut at flanker earned him the coaches’ trophy.
