Forget what you see on TV, at a local level rugby remains a game for all shapes, sizes and ages. At Leighton Buzzard Rugby Club, (Stanbridge Road), we have senior players from the ages of 18 into their 50’s and from 12 stone to 18 stone plus (76 to 115 kgs).

We realise that there are many former players who having played at mini or junior level, school or university have then moved away from their club at the time and never joined a club at their new home. This is why the Rugby Union are working with local clubs to encourage former players to come back to Rugby.

As part of this RFU activity Leighton Rugby Club is running a series of ‘Welcome Back to Rugby’ training sessions. Initially of 6 weeks to practise skills and gain fitness, social games against other local sides will be arranged in the New Year for those interested. This will start at 7pm  on Wednesday November 9th .

Meanwhile there is training on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s at 7pm for those wishing to play for one of the 3 senior sides on a Saturday. As well as senior rugby the Club runs sides at every age group from U7 to U18 with over 300 mini and junior players training or playing matches every Sunday morning. The Senior Academy runs 2 sides with mid week training and Sunday matches.
