Leighton Buzzard started the game with high intensity and took the challenge to the Stockwood Park players from the starting whistle. Buzzards were rewarded for their efforts with a well worked try after just 5 minutes. George Burr touching down following some strong running lines and effective offloads within the forwards, converted by Louis Beer. Buzzards continued with this pressure, with backs and forwards combining well with a succession of more offloads and supporting lines of running. They were quickly rewarded with another try at the 10-minute mark from Louis Beer, also adding the extras. Fifteen minutes in again saw Buzzards on the scoreboard, this time Harry Charter being rewarded for the team’s hard work and persistent pressure, converted by Louis Beer. Stockwood Park soon woke-up and started to capitalise on the mistakes and complacency of the Buzzards team, scoring a converted try at the twenty-minute mark. Stockwood Park utilised their strong runners well, scoring a converted try four minutes later after some uncharacteristic missed tackles from Buzzards. Buzzards took the restart and were quickly back on the ascendency after an effective chase was regathered and some successive offloads putting James Brett over the whitewash.

Soon after the half time break Buzzards scored a well worked converted try through Louis Beer. Stockwood Park took the contest back to Buzzards with some strong running from their powerful forwards and elusive backs, scoring twice in quick succession following some poor defensive errors. Stockwood Park were encouraged with the close score line at 28 – 33 and proceeded to challenge the Buzzards side. Stockwood Park’s excitement soon over-spilled and a penalty try was awarded to Buzzards following a high tackle on Rhys Richards. Dane Richards scored half way through the second half, following some accurate passing and good support play. This failed to deter Stockwood Park, who continued to attack Buzzards and were rewarded with two late tries and a conversion.
An entertaining and high-scoring game from the Buzzards players with many positive performances and areas identified for improvement.
