Welcome to the home of our Under 16s, providing youth rugby for players in Year 11.

At U16 level, the game really begins to feel like senior rugby. Matches are played 15-a-side, with competitive scrums and contested line-outs, giving players the opportunity to develop their skills and understanding of the game in a challenging and competitive environment.

Our Values

Everything we do is built around the RFU Core Values:

Teamwork • Respect • Enjoyment • Discipline • Sportsmanship

We believe these values are just as important away from the rugby pitch as they are on it. Our aim is to help players develop as rugby players while also building confidence, resilience and a strong sense of teamwork.

All rugby is played in accordance with the RFU Age Grade Variations to the World Rugby Laws of the Game (RFU Regulation 15).

Player Welfare Comes First

Creating a positive, safe and supportive environment is at the heart of everything we do.

All of our coaches, referees and first aiders are RFU qualified and DBS checked, with the majority of those involved giving their time as parent volunteers.

As players progress through U16, they are naturally becoming bigger, faster and more competitive. Rugby is a physical contact sport and, despite the precautions and coaching we put in place, injuries can happen. Player welfare remains our priority at all times.

The Benefits of Rugby

Rugby offers teenagers so much more than just the opportunity to play sport. It provides regular physical exercise while helping players develop:

  • Confidence and self-esteem
  • Discipline and resilience
  • Communication and teamwork
  • Respect for others
  • Friendships and a sense of belonging
  • The ability to compete, win and lose positively

Our aim is to provide an environment where players can enjoy themselves, build friendships and develop their rugby in a supportive and encouraging setting.

Supporting the Team

We love having parents involved too. Coming along to training and matches is a great way to support your teenager, see their progress and become part of the wider rugby club community.

Sunday mornings might require an early start, but they provide a relaxed, friendly environment where players, parents and coaches can enjoy being part of the team.

Whether your player has been playing rugby for years or is looking for a new challenge, the U16s are a great place to develop, compete and enjoy the game.
