Minis match report 2018-2019

Under 8s at Twickenham 6th October 2018

On Saturday 6th October, Leighton Buzzard Rugby Club’s under 8s team attended a tournament organised by Northampton Saints Rugby Club and held at Twickenham Stadium.

There was great anticipation as everyone waited for the doors to Twickenham to open, the staff arrived and the team entered through the South Stand.
We were all amazed when they walked through the stadium and finally saw the pitch.
The smiles on all the team and parents faces when they realised that they were going to play on the most famous rugby ground in England we never be forgotten.

As the tournament began the heavens opened; but this did not stop the Leighton Buzzard Under 8’s team as they took to the pitch.

The team played brilliantly, winning all of their matches with some fantastic runs, some amazing tagging and scoring some fabulous sliding trys all with wonderful team spirit.

The team then stayed  to watch Northampton Saints v’s Leicester Tigers in a Derby match to raise money for Rob Horne one of the Northampton Saints players who was injured whilst playing rugby.

At half time the Leighton Buzzard Under 8’s Team then took part in a parade round the pitch. They all walked around waving to the 40 thousand spectators who were cheering for these young, up and coming players.
What an experience! We were even on the TV!!

Despite Northampton’s loss and the constant downpour, the day was a great success. The boys were amazing. A credit to themselves, their coaches and the team. Well done under 8s!
